Pertinent Background Information

Having been formerly employed at both The Hayden Lake Country Club and the Coeur d'Alene Resort Golf Course, I have a solid background in the local golf community. This has been a vital component in providing the expertise necessary to specialize in golf course properties, in addition to waterfront and residential real estate.

Personal

I grew up in Coeur d'Alene and have resided here the vast majority of my life. My parents are Randy and Ruth Smith, and I have 4 sisters and 2 brothers. This large family and the resulting large sphere of influence provides a strong and continuous local clientele to my practice, and is valuable to my clients as well, as it provides a considerable network of exposure to their properties.

I grew up playing sports: football, tennis, baseball, basketball, track, wrestling, and soccer. During high school I played the Pacific Northwest circuit of the United States Tennis Association and was ranked in singles, and I continue to be active in the tennis community, serving as an instructor at tennis clinics at The Hayden Lake Country Club, Avondale and the Coeur d'Alene Tennis Association. In my last year of undergrad at USC, following a trip to PGA West for a weekend, I was hooked by golf. Over the past few years, I've also coached football at Lake City High School, and helped coach their tennis teams.

In addition to sports, mom required my siblings and I play at least one instrument, for which I am now grateful. I played piano, violin and drums early on, then got into guitar, bass and keyboards during college. Let me be the first to tell you that I'm not good at any of them. I love music and attend live shows whenever possible. Although my library includes the staples of Baroque, classical and jazz, some other current favorites are: The Sundays, Keane, Bloc Party, The Samples, The Smiths, The Police, Soul Coughing, The Cranberries, Rage Against the Machine, 10,000 Maniacs, Dave Matthews Band, U2, Frou Frou, The B-52s, Peter Gabriel, Rush, Soundgarden, Vampire Weekend, Bela Fleck & The Flecktones, UB40, Critters Buggin, Jeff Buckley, Lucky Dube, Fleetwood Mac, Ziggy & Bob Marley, Pete Yorn, David Gray, Radiohead, Coldplay, and English Beat.

Hobbies

Boating, golf, tennis, fishing, college football, and brewing beer.
